A contemplation based on John 3:16

This is offensive. Now you know, and you know I know. we can all respect that and each other, so please don’t state the obvious.

contemplating

“For god so loved the world,”
That he made it in his image,
Have you ever really thought on this,
It almost seems insipid.
I wonder if god ever gets fed up,
And wants to scream SHUT UP,
At our silly little prayer,
I want. He wants, she wants, they must have, they need, they are needy
If he ever folds his hands over his ears
For a moment of peace
When he is not the one this standing between a legion and misery
Couldn’t be ‘cause they all told me so,
In so many words and so many more ways…
“that he gave his only begotten son.”
Hear that children of his grace?
His only begotten son
And the only one to see his face
His only flesh and blood
That we martyred for his cause.
That we tortured to gain our way to rapture,
See the irony here?
Isn’t it twisted?
“that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish”
No not perish, we shall never perish
We believe like we’re told to
Live like we’re told to
Snear like we’re told to
Condemn like we are taught
Hate like we are inculcated
Blame like we are indoctrinated,
Look out among the flock and pick out the culls
But never looking inwards
Hollow
We believe though
There’s nothing else to give us hope
“but have everlasting life.”
Life everlasting without ever living
Just existing
Scraping and clawing,
Eking never living
For an eternity
Too obsessed with the bare necessities
To taste, and smell, and feel
To reach beyond our reach
Because that would be his intention. Right?
To keep us slaves to this inebriated system?
To keep us craven and needing,
Begging for relief,
Have I done it?
Have I shaken your belief?
