Finally Naked

I take you off me,
Let you slide on my skin
And pool at my feet.
I step out of you.
I breathe you out,
Long and slow,
I let you go.
I stripped myself bare of you.
Like so much
Gossamer ligatures,
Keeping me grounded in
Here and now and then,
Way back when all that
That is heavy on my spirit
Was relevant.
So I take you off me,
Unzip, unbutton, untie
Undo , wipe away, wash off,
Scrub, scrape and scour
You from me,
And embrace my freedom
Standing naked in the moonlight.
Absorbing the favor
Of the goddesses before me.
Who also threw you off,
Threw you away,
And watched you wither
With each passing day,
As they too left you
Stranded without a host to demolish.
I let you fall from my mind
Like suds from my body,
Washed clean in rain
Pelted from the heavens by
God and nature.
Oblivious to time,
I only savor the feeling of being free of you.
I took you off me,
And now I can see my way.
